Updates

Mr. Fantasy drew into the $100,000 Decathalon Stakes on Saturday at Monmouth. We drew well toward the outside of the gate, so we should not have to sit in the gate long. We expect to see Mr. Fantasy run big third off the layoff and cutting back to six furlongs. We'll have the full analysis tomorrow.Date:
Saturday, 5/22
Track: Monmouth
Race: 5
Post time: 2:50 EDT
Post position: 6 of 7
Jockey: Eddie CastroPurse: $100,000

Phosphorescent ‘s foot was a bit tender after his win. Lupe had the blacksmith pull his shoe, and it looks like an old quarter crack is bugging him a bit. They treated the foot, and Lupe is going to take it easy on him for a few days. This is nothing serious, and is not a long term issue. Phosphorescent ran a huge race on Friday, so Lupe planned on giving him some extra time between races anyway. We will look to run back in June in a “two other than” allowance.

The Defense Rests came out of his weekend breeze well. He is scheduled to breeze back on Saturday. Mike will likely get him one more breeze after that. The next MSW in the book at Belmont is a 6.5 furlong race on Belmont Stakes Day (June 5th), but Mike really would not like to go beyond six-furlongs in the second start. We’ll either look for an extra race at Belmont, or Mike said we could also go to Monmouth as a possibility.
