Race Comments

Phosphorescent broke superbly and ended up on the front end in the "a other than" allowance on the turf. Phosphorescent powered through an opening quarter-mile of 22.3. The early fractions took their toll late as Phosphorescent weakened and faded to eighth.
Quotes
Dale's assistant Tom Morgan said, "He might have bounced a bit off that comeback race. I think he is a better horse when he has targets, but breaking from the rail we didn't really have a choice but to go when he broke that well. If you take back going this short you run yourself into trouble. We just didn't have anything left after that early pace duel."
Robby Albarado said, "The horse broke so well that it was hard for me to take him back. He felt like he was going pretty easily, so I just let him go. When I asked him in the stretch he was empty in the last furlong. I just wrapped up when I knew we weren't going to get a piece."
Where We Go From Here
Phosphorescent came out of the race in good order. There is not much in the Keeneland condition book. We'll have to take a look and see where a summer campaign makes the most sense given that Phosphorescent is not a Kentucky bred.
