Updates
"Mr. Fantasy has returned to the track after his second place finish in the Billy Redcoat. Mike reports that he is traveling sound. Mike has not pinpointed Mr. Fantasy’s next spot as of yet. He wants to make sure he gives him plenty of time in between races. We will have plenty of opportunities to run at Belmont in the coming weeks. Once Mr. Fantasy resumes a regular breeze schedule, we will sit down with Mike and chart a path moving forward. We would certainly like to have a fresh horse in Saratoga this summer."
"Phosphorescent remains on target for the “a other than” allowance on May 14th at Pimlico. Lupe has had a little time to evaluate the horse now. He said that he trains okay on the dirt, but he doesn’t really attack the surface. He wants to run on the turf, because he thinks that he might move better over the grass after watching his winning race on replay. He thinks we can try the “a other than” allowance on the turf and see how he runs. If we ran on the dirt, he said he would ideally point for a 25k non-winners of three claimer. By running on the turf Lupe thinks we’ll get a line on where we can expect to go this summer."

Updates
The Defense Rests broke slowly and was steadied early in his debut at Aqueduct. However, he then flashed surprising speed and rushed up to sit third less than two-lengths back through a quarter-mile in a fast 21.4. The Defense Rests moved up within a length of the lead through a blistering quarter-mile in 44.3 before tiring a bit in the stretch to finish third beaten just over four-lengths.
Quotes
Mike Hushion said, 'Well, he really fooled me. He never showed me that kind of speed in the morning. He ran huge. They were flying up front, and he did not break well. He had to make up ground. They say you never know how they'll react in the afternoons, and that was really the case here. This colt has some fight, and some speed. That's a good combination. He got tired, but that's okay in a first race like this. He'll get a ton from the race.'
Eibar Coa said, 'This is a very nice colt. He moves really well, and he had a nice early turn of foot. He felt great. He got tired, but he got over the ground great.'
Where We Go From Here
The Defense Rests earned a 74 Beyer in the race. This is a little higher figure than the winner got in his debut. The Defense Rests came out of the race well. This was a very encouraging debut. Mike thought we might need a race, but The Defense Rests showed good speed as he chased to horses winging it on the front end. This might end up being a key race as the top pair really dueled the whole way. The Defense Rests should come back in the second half of May at Belmont."

Defense at Aqueduct April 24th
The Defense Rests made his long awaited debut at Aqueduct today and everything that could have gone wrong with his race did . After the #2 flipped in the starting gate he stood there for long time before missing the gate opening . After the race Coa said he did everything possible wrong
1 Missed the Start
2 Rushed Up to the pace
3 Moved to the rail until he had dirt kicked in his face which he did not like so moved to outside
4 Would not change leads then changed leads
5 Looked around enjoying the scenery
but besides all that Coa still thought he was a very good horse

Photos from Aqueduct
Mr Fantasy was well behaved in the paddock today coat looks nice but looks like he lost some weight over the winter and time off .
He run really well again before having a bobble in the deep stretch and allowing Dr W to come back and take the race ( a brave horse to battle back like that ) and tiring again towards end of race .
It was a vast improvement over his last start and should move forward with more workouts and race fitness and hopefully mentally fit to re-capture his old form

Updates
"Mr. Fantasy arrived at Belmont in good order and jogged soundly. His foot looks good so Mike went ahead and breezed him on Sunday morning at Belmont. Mr. Fantasy worked an easy four furlongs in 49:26 over the training track. The work was 26th of 61 at the distance. Mike is now pointing him toward the $60,000 Billy Redcoat Stakes on April 21st at Aqueduct. This race is a seven furlong overnight stake restricted to New York Breds. We should be a formidable threat. In an ideal world, Mike would have loved for the race to be a flat mile, but he thinks Mr. Fantasy will run well. We would like to use this race as a prep for the Met Mile, but we will wait and see how we run in the Billy Redcoat and also how the Met Mile shapes up. We know we have a talented colt, but the Met Mile is a notoriously tough race. We will see how things play out and keep our options open."
"Phosphorescent worked a half mile in 49 flat on Monday at Philadelphia. The work did not show up on the official worktab because Lupe was unable to reach the clockers. The work would have been 3rd of 15 at the distance. Lupe was very pleased with the work and said that Phosphorescent moved well over the surface even though the track was slow. He is being pointed for an 'a other than' allowance going 5 furlongs on the turf on April 24th at Pimlico."
"The Defense Rests breezed five furlongs in 1:03 and change Sunday morning. Mike Hushion said he went slow early and finished up well. However, he did not feel it best to go seven furlongs first time out, which the race on April 16th was. Rather, with the fits and starts with the feet over the last month, he would prefer to go six furlongs. Accordingly, he has opted to point The Defense Rests for the six furlong race on April 24th at Aqueduct. He thinks the extra week and shorter distance will give him the best chance to run credibly first time. He talked to the racing secretary this morning, and he thinks that race will go."

Updates
"Mr. Fantasy developed a little bit of a foot bruise over the weekend. That caused him to miss his work. Mike was tempted to breeze him Tuesday, but he decided not to since Mr. Fantasy was scheduled to ship to Belmont today. He didn't want anything to flare up before a long trip. Mike said that the race on April 18th is still in play. However, in order to make the race he would have to breeze him this weekend. If the foot looks good after the trip, then he should be able to breeze and we would be back on target for the race."
"Phosphorescent arrived to Lupe Preciado at Philadelphia Park on Friday. Lupe said that Phosphorescent looked great when he arrived. An interesting little bit of feedback was that Lupe actually bid on Phosphorescent at the two-year-old auction. He really liked him then. Lupe noted that Phosphorescent has an old quarter-crack on one foot, but he did not think that should not be an issue as it looks old and has what Lupe termed a beautiful patch. However, he did say that Phosphorescent might have sensitive feet. Lupe plans to breeze Phosphorescent this weekend, and he said that if the breeze goes well we should be able to start looking for a race."
"The Defense Rests breezed five furlongs in 1:03.46 on Saturday at Belmont. The Defense Rests threw a shoe in the breeze, so he just walked for two days after the work. A new glue on shoe was affixed on Tuesday. Mike will gallop him until the weekend then give him a little blow out breeze. We're going to be ready to run. Mike is going to lobby the racing secretary to write an extra race going no more than six furlongs against the seven furlong maiden race on the 16th. If they do not write an extra, then we'll make a decision at the time of entries this Sunday as to whether we'll run seven furlongs."

Updates
"Mr. Fantasy continues to train nicely since his last race. He breezed an easy half-mile in 49.30 this morning at Palm Meadows. Mike reports that he has shown no physical problems and is moving soundly. Mike thinks that an allowance race going a flat mile on the main track at Aqueduct is our best bet as a next race. Accordingly, we are going to point for the allowance race on April 18th at Aqueduct. This would give us six weeks until the Met Mile on May 31st at Belmont if we were to run well. Mike plans on shipping Mr. Fantasy back to New York about ten days before the race, as he would like to get a work over the Aqueduct strip before running. We considered the Billy Red Coat Stakes on April 21st, but that race is seven furlongs. Our ultimate goal is not overnight stakes races, but graded stakes races. Mike thinks going a flat mile in the allowance race is more advantageous than going shorter in the overnight stake. The purse difference is not that great, and an overnight stake does nothing of note for a graded stakes winner like Mr. Fantasy."
"The Defense Rests was galloping soundly all week in the glue on shoes until he pulled one on Saturday. He did not injure himself, but was unable to breeze the next day. The farrier that is an expert on glue ons came out on Monday and put the shoe back on. The forecast called for rain in New York early this week, so Mike now plans on working him Friday or Saturday. The Defense Rests will gallop every day until the work. Mike is confident that this horse will make the MSW on April 16th at Aqueduct."
