Update
Sky Afleet started galloping every morning in Camden. “Gelding this horse has helped,” says Kip. “He’s putting his head down, relaxing, and focusing. I’ll get a few weeks of good galloping miles underneath him before doing some easy breezes and making a plan to get him back to Tom (Albertrani).”

Sky Afleet “grabbed a quarter” or grabbed his front hoof with his hind hoof, tearing the skin. You’ll see in the video below he takes a few awkward steps. This is not a serious issue, and he should be ready to head back to the track next week. Overall, he’s becoming more relaxed and making steady progress. We expect him to be ready to ship back to Tom Albertrani’s barn in early 2013.

Update
Sky Afleet continues jogging in Camden, mostly through the woods. “He’s a very high energy colt,” said Kip. “Right now he’s a bit wired, and gets too eager when in the wide open infield of the racecourse. He’s become much more relaxed going in company with another horses through the trails around the property. I’m very happy with how he’s moving.”

Sky Afleet Update
Sky Afleet is very happy to begin turnout at Mill Creek. “He was getting a little wild being on stall rest,” said Mill Creek owner Anne Morgan. “We sedated him a little bit the first couple days so he didn’t get too wound up out in the paddock. He’s really enjoying himself.”
“What a difference in this horse since we bought him in March,” said Terry. “He’s big and stout, but athletic at the same time. We’ll give him plenty of time. His body type is more indicative of a three-year-old then a precocious two-year-old.”
Sky Afleet ships to Camden, South Carolina within the next seven to ten days.

Sky Afleet will have his second round of PRP therapy next week before before starting turnout in a small paddock. Tom Bellhouse was out to see him earlier in the week and said, “This colt is a beast. He’s held his muscle tone really well and certainly looks the part. I think this time off will really help him as he’s certainly matured quite a bit since I saw him Belmont Stakes week.”
We went to see him on Sunday and he was a real handful full of himself and wantin gto be outside he was calm in stall and munching on mints .

Update
Sky Afleet arrived at Mill Creek Farm near Saratoga. The WPT team will be out to the farm to visit him next week.
Dr. Leroux recommends PRP therapy during Sky Afleet’s time on the farm to accelerate the healing of the small tendon tear.
Essentially blood is taken from the horse and processed so the fraction of the blood with the highest concentration of platelets is obtained. The plasma is the then injected into the injury site. Growth factors in the plasma help the body accelerate tissue regeneration and healing. This is the same treatment we used on El Gato Malo’s tendon last year. He has since come back to race soundly

Originally communicated Sky Afleet would head to Kirkwood Stables for his sixty days of training. However, we’ve decided to send him to Mill Creek Farm near Saratoga. We’ve sent a few rehabbing horses to Mill Creek over the past year or so, and the care is excellent. This enables us to see Sky Afleet and have Partners visit during the race meet

Updates
Honeysuckle Vine overcame rearing up at the gate and 2 jockey objections to win by a neck in her maiden yesterday at Finger Lakes paying a very handsome $19.40
On July 6th we reported, on the web, that Sky Afleet had "some inflammation in his left front tendon." Also, will be "scanned over the next few days"...
The results of the scan follow. Looks like Tom caught it before it turned into a bigger issue;
"Dr. Leroux scanned Sky Afleet and found a very small tear in his left front tendon. The vets recommended about sixty days out of training. He’ll ship to Kip Elser’s Kirkwood Stables in Camden, South Carolina before going back into training in September. Disappointing that he won’t run at Saratoga this summer, but fortunately Tom caught this before a more serious injury occurred."

Update
Sky Afleet worked three furlongs in 38 and change in company with Toasting Friday at Belmont. The clockers missed the work, which is why it did not appear on the official worktab. He’s scheduled to work again on Friday.
“He’s got a beautiful long stride to him,” said Tom. “He loves to go around there and galloping, and actually acts quite precocious even though he’s a big horse. We’ll get him to the gate over the next couple weeks and if all goes well see him at the races in July.”

Sky Afleet is galloping every morning over the Belmont main track. “He’s a big, strong horse,” said Tom. “I galloped him in company with Toasting for a few days and he was very competitive.”
Sky Afleet is down to have a three furlong breeze within the next few days. He’ll also be making regular visits to the gate through the month. Once he has a few breezes under his belt, we’ll have a better idea of a debut timetable.

Updates
Sky Afleet arrived at Tom Albertrani’s Belmont Park barn and settled in well. He’ll walk the shedrow for a day or two to acclimate to his new surroundings before heading to the track.
Says Kip, “He breezed a nice half mile on Friday before standing in the gate on Monday. I don’t think he’s going to be a particularly early two-year-old, but he’s done about what he can do here as far as education goes, and it’s time for him to take the next step.
“I’m very pleased with him,” continued Kip. “He’s gotten taller and filled in that bigger frame since he got here. He covers a lot of ground.”

Updates
Sky Afleet breezed three furlongs in 37 and change over the weekend at Kirkwood. “I was very happy with the breeze, but he went just a bit too fast early,” said Kip. “I kept him without company for a few weeks to get him to settle. Now I’m reintroducing other horses with him on the racetrack and trying to get him to relax. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great thing that he’s eager to run, but at this point in his education, learning how to settle and rate is huge.”

Marketfrontrunning is going to be out of training for a further 30 to 45 days after being ultra sounded on weekend to allow time for left tendon to heal correctly . Kip is going to blister the leg then keep an eye on her although is is a set back it does not appear to be career ending .
Update
Sky Afleet breezed three furlongs in 40 and change on Friday at Kirkwood. He’s moving really well, and has been full of energy in his training. Says Terry, “This is a solid colt. Physically he’s quite mature. He’s got a good mind on him, but tends to get excited when he gets on the racetrack. We’ll give him a few weeks to settle before shipping up to Tom A.”

Fasig Tipton excepted both our yearlings to the NY Sales in Saratoga Aug 11-12
A colt by Bluegrass Cat very leggy and a filly by Freud big and muscular
Mythical Yarn was covered by Parading on Monday
Sky Afleet (Sky Mesa colt) “is really doing well,” according to Kip. “He’s been really keen in his daily gallops, which is great to see in a young horse. I’m hesitant to work him in company just yet because he’s very competitive and I don’t want him overdoing it.”
“This colt covers a ton of ground,” said Terry. “He’s probably got the longest stride of any of our two-year-olds.”
Sky Afleet is scheduled to breeze over the weekend.
