Sky Afleet worked a half mile in 50:31 (5 of 12) Tuesday morning at Belmont Park. “Another nice, steady breeze,” said Tom. “He’s been to the gate a few times, and is just about ready to breeze from it, hopefully earning his gate card.” Sky Afleet is on target to run at Saratoga.

Update

Sky Afleet worked a half mile in 51:14 (78 of 89) Saturday at Belmont. “This was his first half mile here, so we had him go nice and easy,” said Tom. “He’s a big, strong horse that’s for sure.”

Sky Afleet continues on a regular breeze schedule. He’ll need a few five furlong breezes under his belt before being ready to run, but is all systems go for Saratoga at this point.

Update

Sky Afleet worked three furlongs in 38 and change in company with Toasting Friday at Belmont. The clockers missed the work, which is why it did not appear on the official worktab. He’s scheduled to work again on Friday.

“He’s got a beautiful long stride to him,” said Tom. “He loves to go around there and galloping, and actually acts quite precocious even though he’s a big horse. We’ll get him to the gate over the next couple weeks and if all goes well see him at the races in July.”

Updates

Sky Afleet is galloping every morning over the Belmont main track. “He’s a big, strong horse,” said Tom. “I galloped him in company with Toasting for a few days and he was very competitive.”

Sky Afleet is down to have a three furlong breeze within the next few days. He’ll also be making regular visits to the gate through the month. Once he has a few breezes under his belt, we’ll have a better idea of a debut timetable.

Updates

Sky Afleet arrived at Tom Albertrani’s Belmont Park barn and settled in well. He’ll walk the shedrow for a day or two to acclimate to his new surroundings before heading to the track.

Says Kip, “He breezed a nice half mile on Friday before standing in the gate on Monday. I don’t think he’s going to be a particularly early two-year-old, but he’s done about what he can do here as far as education goes, and it’s time for him to take the next step.

“I’m very pleased with him,” continued Kip. “He’s gotten taller and filled in that bigger frame since he got here. He covers a lot of ground.”
